In collaboration between the Regional Organization for the conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA) and the Center for Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), a virtual regional training workshop on “Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)” was jointly organized during the period November 30 – December 03, 2020.
The workshop aimed at familiarizing the participants with the concept of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and its importance in achieving sustainable development. It provided the participants with insights and overview into on how the EIA process should be implemented, exposing them also withgreater understanding of the procedural parameters and the EIA best practices , as well as advanced EIA procedures for better identification of environmental impacts and ways to minimize them. The sessions of the training workshop included case studies and desktop exercises.
The training workshop lectures were delivered by experts from Tunis International Centre for Environmental Technologies (CITET) and PERSGA.
It was attended by about 40 (30 ??) specialists representing various relevant agencies in PERSGA member states, namely the Republic of Djibouti, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of Yemen.
