Yemen National Consultative Meeting on “Priority Actions for the National Action Plan (NAP) on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU)” 27 – 28 May 2025, Aden (Republic of Yemen)
PERSGA held this national meeting in coordination with Yemeni National Focal Point (Environment Protection Authority (EPA)) and in collaboration with the Yemeni Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fish Wealth (MAIFH) for two days 27-28 May 2025) in Aden (Yemen) with the framework of the Regional Project for Sustainable Fishery Development in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (SFISH) funded by the World Bank. The purpose of this meeting was mainly to discuss and rank the priority actions needed to prevent, detect and eliminate IUU in Yemen. Eight Officials and Senior Specialists from the fishery sector and marine science within the MAIFW participated in this meeting for this purpose. The MAIFH Deputy for Fishery Marketing and Quality opened this meeting in presence of the EPA Deputy and PERSGA representative. The meeting outputs, including priority actions, will be considered in the draft NAP-IUU that is expected to be then reviewed and discussed with a wide range of national stakeholders.
