PERSGA held an awareness-raising Program in coordination with the national focal point (Environment Protection Authority) for three days 29-31 March 2026 at three coastal areas along the Yemeni coast of the Gulf of Aden. These areas were Amran, Khor Omira and Al Shiakh Abdullah, which are located within the Aden Governorate, Lahj Governorate and Abyan Governorate respectively. The main purpose of the program was to raise the awareness level of local fishers on sustainability of fish wealth and to have an open discussion with fishers for the development of fishery management in the area. More than 30 fishers participated at the program in each area. Different presentations, in relation to GFGs and Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU), including Sea turtle poaching, were provided to different fishers in each area. There were open dialogue sessions with the local fishers -within the program- discussing different issues in relation to current fishery management in the coastal areas.
