HE Mr. Hassan Abdul Kader Hilal, Minister of Environment, Forestry and Physical Development in the Republic of Sudan, visited PERSGA and met Secretary General, Prof. Ziad Abu Ghararah on 26th March 2012. In the meeting HE Mr Hilal expressed sincere thanks and gratitude of the Government of Sudan to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the hosting country for PERSGA, and the continued support for its efforts, which plays an essential role in protecting the marine environment and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources for the benefit of all countries in the region.
During the visit, HE Mr. Hilal was briefed about PERSGA activities and the on-ground projects implemented in PERSGA member states, including in Sudan, such as establishment of the National Center to respond to the oil pollution, adaptations to climate change and the recent initiative addressing marine litter on Sudanese coast. He also discussed means to enhance collaboration between Sudan and PERSGA. From his side, Prof. Ziad the Secretary General of PERSGA, thanked the Minister for his visit to the organization, which comes in the framework of the continuous support by Sudan to PERSGA and its role in the region.
