The Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA) has appointed Dr. Salim Al-Moghrabi, the environmental expert, to participate in the 4th GEF-UNDP-IMO Globallast Global Project Task Force Meeting. The meeting was held in Arraial Do Cabo / Brazil during the period 13-15 November 2014. Representatives from 3 PERSGA member states (Egypt, Yemen and Jordan), in addition to representatives of 13 countries worldwide, and representative of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) participated in this meeting. During this meeting the participants discussed the steps taken by their respective countries to ratify the International Convention for the management of Ballast water and sediments from ships 2004 and what they have achieved to modify their legislation in order to manage the Ballast water properly once the convention enters into force. The participants also discussed the action plan for the coming two years 2015-2016. PERSEGA and its member states participation during the meeting was highly appreciated.
