PERSGA has organised on Monday, May 13, 2013 a workshop for school principals and extracurricular activities’ supervisors at intermediate schools in the city of Aden - Republic of Yemen in order to activate the school environmental clubs. This workshop comes within the framework of the establishment and activation of "clubs of the Red Sea" in selected coastal cities during the years 2013 - 2014 as part of the implementation of the regional strategy for environmental education for sustainable development in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
During the workshop lectures has been provided on the importance of conserving marine environment as well as the requirements and phases of the establishment of the environmental club at schools. Twenty participants from school principals and supervisors of student activity have attended the workshop in addition to the Director of the General Authority for Environmental Protection - Aden Branch and other staffs.
All participating schools have expressed willingness to create or activate school environmental clubs during the academic year 2013-2014, within the environmental clubs spread in all districts of the city of Aden.
It is worth mentioning that there are 92 environmental clubs in all districts of Aden undertaking environmental awareness in general with specialized committees in the field of the protection of the marine and coastal environment. PERSGA expects the establishment, operation and supervision of school clubs dedicated to marine and coastal environments within the students in the eighth year of the intermediate schools so that all students can be enrolled in the program at least once during their schooling.
