PERSGA held a national workshop for the principals of middle schools in Port-Sudan, Republic of Sudan to activate and re-establish environmental school clubs; this workshop comes within PERSGA efforts to implement the regional strategy for education by establishing and reactivating "Environmental School Clubs" in the Red Sea coastal cities.
The workshop included lectures on the importance of preserving the marine environment as well as the requirements and methodologies to establish environmental clubs in schools.
The workshop was attended by 10 school principals and three supervisors of activity in addition to representatives of the Ministry of environment and Tourism in the Red Sea state and the Secretariat of the state Department of Education. All the participating schools expressed their willingness to establish environmental clubs within the student activity of schools during the academic year 2013-2014.
